Tony Romas - A place for ribs
A first glance it looks like a log cabin lodge (minus the charm) decorated with castaway tables from some Holiday Inn from the 80s. (at second glance too) There is zero atmospehere and most times we have been here the service has been well meaning but tragically inept.
But we keep going back and the fact is we love it.
Good old American BBQ style ribs are a very rare commodity in Sydney (go figure, it's not so easy to even find good BBQ sauce) and although Tony Roma's is a chain the ribs are satisfyingly consistent and delicious.
There isn't much else we can say except sometimes guilty meaty finger-lickin pleasures are the best pleasures.
It Should at least be a once a week lunch outing.

Love the ribs at Tony Roma's, so I can understand the appeal, but I find the atmosphere to be so depressing, it makes me want to take Prozac with my beer. Instead, I usually opt for the very tasty and tender pork ribs (forget the lamb ribs, they're not half as good) at the more upbeat Hurricane's in Bondi. And I still need to scope out the smoked ribs at Victor's Soul Food Kitchen in Ultimo. Victor's an Alabama boy doing some real Southern-style home cooking.

It all eat and run at Tony Roma's for us which I suppose is why when the service is slow, it's excrutiating.
We're pretty interested in Victor's too but never seem to think of it when we are evaluating our options.
