Strangers With Candy
In the words of Flatpoint Principal Onyx Blackman, "I'm an obtuse man, so I'll try to be oblique."
How could we possibly not love Strangers With Candy? It's a sunny, cozy neighbourhood cafe. The food is simple but with well executed details (take home some of their terrific tomato relish, we did) and it also happens to be named after one of our favorite TV Shows of all time.
The only thing missing was having 42 year old highschool freshman and ex-junkie whore Jerri Blank to wait on us (but we knew that was too much to ask).
Strangers With Candy is at 96 Kepos St (corner of Phillip) in East Redfern just around the corner from Danks Street.
as much as i am a fan of the show, i would be hesitant to eat at a place named after a cautionary tale....however, the photos of the food look wonderful. perhaps if amy sedaris is ever in town, she can be persuaded to make a batch of her crazy cupcakes!
